DECT™, Digital Enhanced Cordless
Telecommunications, is a radio technology specified by ETSI
which has become a world-wide success. The technology
provides flexible digital radio access cordless
communications for use in residential, corporate and public
environments. DECT™ supports voice and data
communications. It is ready for next generation
communications and ready to take its place in an environment of
fixed mobile convergence, integration of voice and data,
multimedia, internet/intranet services and multi-operator
service provision.
Designed for short-range use as an access mechanism to the
main networks, DECT™ offers cordless voice, fax, data and
multimedia communications, wireless local area networks
and wireless PBX. It thus has applications in the factory,
office, home and public areas, such as stations, airports and
exhibition halls.
